SIRA, the Swiss Informatics Research Association, represents the professors and lecturers in Informatics at Swiss universities.
SIRA is a non-profit organization. Its goals are to foster national and international collaboration within the Informatics/ICT research community and to promote the visibility and recognition of research and advanced education in Informatics/ICT and its related fields in Switzerland.
SIRA aims at achieving these goals by working toward influencing policy that impacts Informatics research, helping to coordinate Informatics-related efforts in research and advanced education both within Switzerland and with organisations abroad, and cultivating communication with industry, government, the media, and the general public.
SIRA was founded in 2012, as a merger and continuation of CHIP (CH Informatics Professors; founded in the 1980ies), SARIT (founded in 1989) and SI-CHIP (founded in 2011).
